We recently had the opportunity to work with a local shop on a box Chevy Caprice belonging to MN Vikings center back Cedric Griffin. The shop, Automotive Concepts, is a full customizing facility located in the Minneapolis area that works on some incredibly sick rides. AC will do pretty much anything you can dream of, including custom rim and tire options, body work, suspension, motor work and more.
Cedric’s box Chevy got the full treatment. Starting with lambo doors, 26 inch rims and a fresh coat of pearl white paint. AC built custom fiber glass speaker boxes in the rear trunk that were painted to match the exterior. The amps are flush mounted to complete the clean look.
When it came to suspension, AC enlisted the help of Universal Car Lifts to install a 15 inch high riser lift kit. Cedric wanted the car to ride high and be able to make full U turns. The crew at UCL didn’t disappoint, fabricating a complete bolt on kit to completely clear the 26 inch rims and tires. The 15 inch kit provided includes custom fabricated lift spindles, frame cross member drop, rear trailing arm relocation brackets, extended rear trailing arms, extended brake lines, sway bar drop kit and pretty much everything else needed to lift the car a total of 15 inches.
If your going for the high riser look, we have kits to clear up to 34″ rims and tires. These lift kits allow you to do a complete U turn. The ride quality is good and the kits are very complete, including everything needed to get the job done. Installation is easy thanks to a detailed installation manual showing step by step how to install everything. The instruction manual includes photos that show the suspension and how the parts fit together.
UCL also sells kits that allow you to have the “tucked” look. You may have to do minor trimming of the fenders to achieve this look, but many people prefer this style over the high riser style.
